Since 1971, Starbucks has been committed to ethically sourcing and roasting high-quality arabica coffee.

1971

The Beginning

Three friends opened the first Starbucks store in Seattle's Pike Place Market, selling fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea, and spices.

1982

Howard Joins

Howard Schultz joined Starbucks and was inspired by the Italian coffee bar culture during a trip to Milan.

1987

A New Vision

Howard Schultz purchased Starbucks and began transforming it into the coffee house experience we know today.
